One of the biggest Tissue machine at Bataan, Philippines is controlled by Rockwell Drive & Control. What have been done to speed up engineering and commissioning time during project execution?

The tissue machine is the machine that used to produce tissue that we used on everyday life.

It has Fan Pump, Forming Roll, Creeping Cylinder (Yankee Dryer) and Pope Reel (Reel Drum) as main component. Additional drive could be for Supply Fan, Exhaust Fan , Felt Guide Roll and other function.
The biggest diameter is Yankee Dryer. It can have diameter more than 6 meters.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁.

– Use Plantpax Library to reduce programming for process control. Plantpax is Distributed Control System (DCS) with set of ready to use libraries for PLC and HMI . Include pre-tested HMI faceplate, Add On Instruction (AOI), and code for most of Valve , PID controller, drive, instrument, motor controller etc. Alarm automatically generated from this plantpax object. Just using HMI Faceplate, plant engineer and operator also able to set the scaling, P&ID tag name, alarm etc, by themselve.

– Packaged drive is selected to reduce time and simplify the installation . Packaged drive is pre-engineered drive panel that can be ordered complete with Drive, MCCB , reactor, wiring bay , push button from factory.

– Use the simulation software RS Logix 5000 / Studio Emulate to test the program as actual part was not ready yet. Manage to clear out most of the bug in PLC program before came to site.

– Remote I/O using Flex I/O is utilized to reduce installation time. A lot of troubleshooting work on cabling was reduced too.

– Use Excel to monitor all tag which not in HMI yet. Setup MS Excel to monitor important tag in whole machine through RS Linx, was a real help for engineers to get instant idea and overview on what the machine doing.

– Use wireless router for I/O check and drive testing. All Drive, Control logix and remote I/O accessible through ethernet network. Laptop brought near checked device, during I/O check, loop check and it has saved a lot of time.

– Use of startup wizard on Powerflex Drive Software. Setup drive parameter and tuning without need to look on manual book as everthing is assisted.

– Export and import all tag in program and HMI to excel. Create and modify all tag in excel and import it back to PLC program.
